ATHLET quality bits with TIN coating are optimally suited for collated screw fastening. By applying two coatings, i.e., TIC (titanium carbide) + TIN (titanium nitrite) a bit surface with a hardness of approx. 95 HRC (= harder than tungsten arbide) is achieved. This makes the bit extremely resistant to wear and provides long-lasting corrosion protection. By subsequent heat treatment applying a computer-controlled vacuum process these bits achieve a torque which is up to 50% above the values for an ATHLET BASIC-bit.
The BASIC quality of Athlet quality tools is a value for money bit which supersedes the requirements as per DIN in all respects and which is suitable for all applications. This quality level is the basis for ATHLET DIAMONDgrip bits and Athlet TIN-bits. With a hardness of 59 – 61 HRC, the BASIC quality can be used for both manual and power tool applications.
